FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I'm returning to yoga after an injury what class would you recommend?
The most important thing you can do is listen to your own body and take care when starting back in to a practice. I would recommend coming to some Gentle Yoga classes first as you ease back in. These classes intentionally slow us down so we can be much more mindful of our movements and our alignment. Before class, let your teacher know about any injuries you might have or if you have any knee, back, shoulder or joint problems so they can offer posture modifications in class.

I'm very interested in yoga but not sure how to get started.
It's great that you are interested in trying yoga, and very important to find the right class. Village Yoga offers some Gentle Yoga classes as well as beginner series classes. If there is not a beginner series available when you want to start try the Gentle Yoga classes. These classes work very mindfully through the foundational postures of yoga. Also, I would encourage you to talk to me, Jen, the owner. I can help to provide some basic information as well as guide you to the right kind of classes.

What should I bring to class?
Come to class dressed comfortably and if you have a mat you should bring it but the studio has mats for loan. Water and a towel are also nice to have.

I am not flexible enough to do yoga.
Everyone and anyone can get flexible once they start a regular yoga practice, any age, any body type. Once you start you will see your balance, range of motion, and your mood improve. We can all get flexible by practicing yoga.

What style of yoga is Fluid Yoga?
Fluid Yoga places attention in a mindful way on breath and movement. It incorporates organic and intuitive flows while emphasizing continual movement throughout the mindful practice to build endurance, flexibility, strength and a clear mind. Fluid will both challenge and evolve your practice if you come with an open mind and mindful approach.

Do I need to download something first?

Yes, you must download the Zoom application to your desktop or tablet. We don’t recommend doing this on your phone but you can try. Download zoom at https://zoom.us/download.?You do not need a paid subscription for Zoom. You only need the free version.?You’ll only have to do this once.

Are the LIVE classes included in an online membership?

No. You must purchase either a discounted drop-in or a class pass for the LIVE classes. You can also use your existing or legacy passes for these classes.?Online memberships give you access to the library of 50+ videos and recordings. Most LIVEstream classes will be saved there.?Stay tuned though, we’ll be looking to combine those into a value priced package.
